It is coated with Guhring's proprietary FIREX coating — a multi-layer, high-temperature-resistant PVD AlCrN-based coating engineered to reduce heat transfer into the substrate, extending tool life in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials including alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and hardened steels up to approximately 63 HRC. The straight shank is compatible with standard ER collet chucks, milling chucks, and Weldon-flat holders in the 3\/8 in bore size.
