The plug chamfer (3–5 threads of taper) allows the tap to be used in through holes and most blind applications where adequate clearance exists, and the 4-flute geometry provides strong chip control in general-purpose materials including steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The H3 tolerance class produces a thread fit suitable for standard 2B thread class requirements, compatible with conventional tap wrenches or machine holders accepting the square-drive shank.
