The 3M Wetordry Cloth Disc 281W (P/N 13085, 7000045611) is a new, factory-sealed box of 50 silicon carbide abrasive discs, each measuring 203 mm (8 in) in diameter, graded at P500 for fine finishing work. The 281W series is built on an open-mesh cloth backing that allows water, slurry, and abraded material to pass freely through the disc, preventing loading and making it suitable for both wet and dry sanding applications. The silicon carbide mineral provides a sharp, consistent cut on hard surfaces including painted panels, primer, gelcoat, lacquer, and composite materials, with the fine P500 grit delivering a uniform scratch pattern appropriate for pre-polish finishing stages. Made in Japan to 3M's Wetordry quality standard, these discs are designed for use with hook-and-loop or pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backup pads on random orbital and rotary finishing tools — verify backup pad attachment type before ordering. The open-mesh construction also provides superior dust extraction efficiency when used dry with vacuum-ported tools.
