The Carmex MTS 0250 C25 40 UN MT7 is a new solid carbide miniature thread milling cutter from Carmex's MTS (Miniature Thread and Slot) series, designed to produce UN (Unified National) thread forms with a 40 TPI pitch in a 1/4 in (0.250 in) cutting diameter. The tool features a tapered neck (visible in photos) between the cutting head and the cylindrical shank — a geometry characteristic of the Carmex MTS line — which provides clearance when milling threads in small-diameter bores, preventing shank interference. Grade MT7 is Carmex's uncoated ultra-fine grain carbide substrate optimized for non-ferrous materials, plastics, and other soft-to-medium materials where a bright (uncoated) finish reduces built-up edge; the C25 designation indicates a 1/4 in (6.35 mm) cylindrical shank diameter and 40 mm overall length. This single-piece thread mill is used on CNC machining centers with helical interpolation to produce internal threads, offering the advantage of generating multiple thread pitches and both right- and left-hand threads with a single tool.
