DAP Weldwood Original Contact Cement (Item #49834) is a polychloroprene (neoprene)-based solvent contact adhesive formulated for professional-grade permanent bonding on contact, with no clamping required after assembly. The solvent system contains petroleum naphtha, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), and toluene; the adhesive is classified as a flammable liquid and must be used in well-ventilated areas away from all ignition sources. It delivers a 15–20 minute open/dry time (temperature and humidity dependent), a 1.5–2.0 hour assembly/working time, and reaches full holding strength within 7 days of bond; recommended coverage is 27 sq ft per pint at 3 dry grams per sq ft on a single coat. Bonds are flexible, water-resistant when dry, and resistant to high heat, making this cement suitable for bonding decorative laminates, veneers, wood, metal, plastics, and porous or non-porous substrates; the product is not suitable for structural applications or use on copper, copper alloys, foam, or petroleum-solvent-sensitive soft plastics.
