This is a new Dormer A402 subland drill in M5 size, manufactured in Germany to DIN 8376 specification. The A402 is a two-diameter subland (step) drill designed to drill a clearance hole and countersink/counterbore in a single operation for M5 metric fasteners — the lower flute diameter produces the clearance hole while the larger upper diameter produces the counterbore or countersink relief. Constructed from HSS (high speed steel) with a black oxide steam temper finish ("St" surface treatment per label), which provides moderate corrosion resistance and reduced friction. The 180° point angle is suited for flat-bottomed entry and is characteristic of the DIN 8376 subland drill form. This tool is used in production drilling of bolt clearance holes with integrated spotface or counterbore in steel, cast iron, and general engineering materials.
