The Everede Tool TPGB-315-CBN (EDP 05018) is a new, Made in USA triangular CBN (cubic boron nitride) tipped turning insert in the ANSI TPGB designation. Decoding the part number: T = triangular shape (60° included angle); P = 11° clearance angle; G = ±0.001 in / ±0.001 in tolerance class (precision ground); B = hole with single-sided chipbreaker; 3 = 3/8 in inscribed circle; 1 = 3/32 in thickness; 5 = 1/64 in (0.031 in) nose radius; CBN = cubic boron nitride cutting tip brazed onto a carbide substrate. The CBN tip is visible in the photo as the gold/bronze-colored braze at one corner of the silver carbide body, confirming a single-corner brazed CBN configuration. CBN inserts of this type are engineered for hard turning of hardened steels (45–65 HRC), cast irons, and superalloys at high surface speeds without grinding, delivering superior surface finish and tool life compared to ceramic or coated carbide alternatives.
