The Garr Tool 42247 is a new, solid micrograin carbide square (flat) end mill from the 630MA series, 1/2 in cutting diameter with a 1 in shank diameter, 1 in length of cut, and 4 in overall length, ground to standard tolerances. It carries four flutes in a right-hand helix/right-hand cut configuration and is finished with a TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) PVD coating, which provides superior hardness, oxidation resistance up to ~1,800°F, and extended tool life compared to uncoated or TiN-coated alternatives. The 630MA series is purpose-built for high-speed machining of hardened steels, stainless steels, alloy steels, cast iron, and titanium alloys in CNC machining centers using standard straight-shank ER or side-lock toolholders accepting a 1/2 in bore. Made in the USA at Garr Tool's Adrian, Michigan facility, this end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations where heat resistance and wear resistance are critical.
