Greenleaf SCEX-443-XR2 in grade G-915 is a square ceramic milling insert designed for high-speed machining of cast iron, hardened steels, and superalloys where carbide would be limiting. The SCEX designation indicates a square (S) insert with a 7° clearance angle (C), special tolerance (E), with an X chipbreaker geometry; the 443 size code specifies a 1/2 in (12.7 mm) inscribed circle, 4/16 in (6.35 mm) thickness, and a 3/64 in (1.19 mm) nose radius. G-915 is Greenleaf's silicon nitride (Si3N4) based ceramic grade, characterized by high thermal shock resistance and fracture toughness compared to alumina ceramics, making it particularly effective for interrupted cuts in gray and ductile cast iron and nickel-based superalloys. The XR2 chipbreaker geometry provides a reinforced cutting edge suited for moderate to heavy milling depths. This package is new, Made in the USA, and contains 10 inserts per the standard Greenleaf pack configuration visible in the photos.
