This is a new Guhring No. 3916-22.225 TiN-coated HSS-E (cobalt-enriched high-speed steel) spiral-flute machine tap for cutting 7/8-9 UNC (Unified National Coarse) threads to a 2B tolerance class. The Guhring WN 376 designation confirms this is a bottom (plug-style) spiral-flute tap — the helical flutes evacuate chips upward out of blind holes, making it the correct choice for through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys. The TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating, visible as the gold finish in the product photos, reduces friction and built-up edge, extending tool life significantly versus uncoated taps; the green identification ring on the shank denotes the 2B thread tolerance.
