This is a new Guhring No. 5511-5,950 solid carbide twist drill conforming to DIN 6537L, diameter 5.95 mm (15/64 in), in the R-RT1 specification — a long-flute (L) geometry with a straight reduced shank and Guhring's RT1 point geometry featuring a self-centering 140° split point for precise entry without pre-drilling. The drill is coated with Guhring's dark-grey nano-A (TiAlN-based) wear-resistant coating, confirmed by the dark flute color visible in the photos, which delivers excellent oxidation resistance and enables dry or minimum-quantity-lubrication (MQL) machining of steel, cast iron, and stainless steel. As a DIN 6537L long-series drill, it carries a nominally longer flute length than the short (K) series, suited to applications requiring deeper hole penetration relative to diameter; the reduced straight shank is sized to fit standard drill chucks and collet toolholders. K/P reference number 21515957 appears on the original Guhring factory packaging, and the drill is supplied new-old-stock in its original protective tube.
