This is a new Guhring series 5718 spiral flute machine tap in M12x1.75 thread size, tolerance class 6HX, manufactured from HSS-E (cobalt-alloyed high speed steel) for improved wear resistance and toughness in harder workpiece materials. The tool features Guhring's GOLDRING TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating, which provides the characteristic gold finish visible in the photos, reduces friction, and extends tool life versus uncoated taps. The spiral flute geometry evacuates chips back out of blind holes, making this tap suited for CNC machining centers and tapping machines where through-coolant or external coolant is applied to blind-hole applications in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The shank features a square drive end for positive torque transmission in standard tap holders and CNC tapping chucks compatible with M12 taps. WN 4143 is the Guhring work norm designation confirming the DIN 371/376 form C (long shank) configuration visible in the photos.
