This is a new GWS Tool Group solid carbide twist drill, part number 460-103780B, with a 3/8 in (0.375 in) diameter and an AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating as labeled. AlTiN coating significantly increases surface hardness and oxidation resistance up to approximately 800°C, making it well-suited for dry or near-dry machining of ferrous alloys, hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. GWS solid carbide drills are manufactured to jobber-length proportions with a straight shank and a conventional 118° or 135° split-point geometry typical for this class of tool, providing aggressive chip evacuation through their helical flutes. This drill is designed for use in CNC machining centers, lathes, or drill presses with a 3/8 in collet or chuck, and is sold new in its original factory plastic tube packaging.
