The GWS Tool Group HGW5M08-.5 (EDP# 122757-A01) is a new solid carbide, 5-flute corner radius end mill with an 8 mm cutting diameter, 0.5 mm corner radius, 12 mm length of cut, and 64 mm overall length — all confirmed directly from the packaging label and shank engraving. The tool is coated with GWS's NACO (Nanocomposite AlTiN/Si3N4) coating, a high-performance PVD nanocomposite coating that delivers elevated hardness (≈ 38 GPa), excellent oxidation resistance up to approximately 1,100 °C, and low friction, making it well-suited for high-speed machining of hardened steels, stainless steels, titanium alloys, and superalloys in demanding aerospace and die/mold applications. The 5-flute geometry increases chip load per tooth and core strength relative to a 4-flute design, enabling higher feed rates and improved surface finish in semi-finishing and finishing operations. The 8 mm shank diameter matches the cutting diameter for direct collet clamping in ER11, ER16, or ER20 collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or hydraulic chucks with appropriate bore sizes.
