This is a new Hertel solid carbide 4-flute square end mill with AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating, as confirmed by the label reading '4FLT S/C SQ E/M ALTIN' on the orange plastic case. The label specifies dimensions of 5/16 x 5/16 x 1-1/8 x 3 inches, indicating a 5/16 in cutting diameter, 5/16 in shank diameter, 1-1/8 in length of cut, and 3 in overall length. AlTiN coating provides excellent hardness and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures, making this end mill well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting of steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and high-temp alloys.
