This Hertel 87646642 is a 5-piece M42 cobalt high-speed steel roughing (coarse) end mill set packaged in a molded plastic carrying case, manufactured in Korea. M42 is an 8% cobalt HSS grade offering superior red hardness and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS, making it well-suited for harder steels, stainless steels, titanium alloys, and high-temp alloys. The end mills feature a raker-style roughing tooth profile (serrated flutes) that breaks chips into small segments, reduces cutting forces, and enables higher metal removal rates in tough materials.
