Decoding the part number: the S312 system designates Horn's three-edged (triangular) precision grooving insert series with a central clamping hole; 0300 encodes a 3.00 mm cutting width; 52 denotes the insert geometry/chipbreaker variant; and TF45 is Horn's PVD-coated submicron carbide grade, a TiAlN-based coating specifically engineered for universal grooving and parting applications including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
