The Irwin Hanson 7227ZR is a new, hexagonal rethreading die sized 5/16-18 UNC (Unified National Coarse), with an 11/16 in hex outer diameter, manufactured in the USA. Stamped H7 on the face, this die is ground to an H7 pitch diameter tolerance, which corresponds to a 2B class fit — appropriate for standard fastener thread restoration and chasing of external threads on bolts, studs, and threaded rod. The hex body is designed to be driven by a standard open-end wrench or adjustable wrench in hand-application use only; the packaging explicitly prohibits power tool use. Hanson hex rethreading dies of this type are high-speed steel construction, suitable for threading mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials at hand-chase feed rates. This die is compatible with any 11/16 in hex die stock or wrench drive and is sold individually as confirmed by the QTY 1 packaging label.
