The John Crane Type 21 is a widely standardized elastomer-bellows/single-spring rotating seal design that uses a carbon-graphite primary sealing face against a ceramic mating ring (stationary seat), with NBR/Buna-N elastomers and a stainless steel spring and metal parts — materials consistent with what is visible in the photos (black carbon face, stainless coil spring, metal retainer).
