This is a new Kennametal 6466402 hand tap in M12x1.5 thread size, manufactured in the USA from High Speed Steel (HSS) with a black oxide (OX) surface treatment for improved lubricity and corrosion resistance. The tap carries a D5 pitch diameter limit (H5 tolerance class), indicating a tolerance range of +0.0005" to +0.0010" over basic pitch diameter, suitable for producing 6H class threads in steel and similar materials. It is a straight-flute (STFL) bottoming (BOT) configuration with 4 flutes, allowing thread cutting to the bottom of blind holes with minimal chamfer lead — typically 1–2 thread chamfer.
