Kennametal 6469740 5/8-11 UNC H9 4-Flute LH HSS Bottoming Tap

This is a new Kennametal 5/8-11 UNC left-hand bottoming tap (part number 6469740), manufactured in the USA, in high-speed steel (HSS) with no coating (uncoated/bright finish). The tap is ground to H9 tolerance (pitch diameter limits: +0.0025 to +0.0030 in over basic), features 4 straight flutes optimized for steel (STFL), and has a bottoming (BOTT) chamfer of 1–2 thread lead for cutting threads to the bottom of blind holes. Left-hand (LH) designation means the tap cuts on counter-clockwise rotation, producing left-hand internal threads — a specialty configuration required for left-hand fastener applications. The 4-flute straight-flute geometry is suited for through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications in steel and ferrous materials where chip evacuation is managed manually or with flood coolant.
