This is a new KEO Cutting Tools #303 Woodruff keyseat cutter, manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a straight tooth (non-staggered) configuration and right-hand (RH) cut, as confirmed by the label marking '#303 KEO WOODRUFF KSC HSS RH STR'. The #303 Woodruff keyseat cutter per ASME B94.19 standard cuts a 3/8 in diameter x 1/16 in wide keyway seat on a 3/8 in shank, with the characteristic small-diameter cutter wheel mounted at the end of a tapered-neck, cylindrical shank body. The black oxide finish visible on the shank provides corrosion resistance and minimal lubrication retention during cutting operations. This cutter is used on manual or CNC milling machines to produce the semicircular Woodruff keyway seats in shaft stock for Woodruff key retention in power transmission assemblies.
