Loctite 592 is a medium-strength, PTFE-filled anaerobic thread sealant paste designed to seal and lock threaded pipe fittings against leakage of gases and liquids. Dispensed from a 250 ml (8.45 fl oz) squeeze tube (IDH 88568, Henkel), it cures in the absence of air upon contact with metal ions, filling voids in metal pipe threads to create a pressure-tight seal that resists vibration loosening. Loctite 592 is compatible with most metal piping systems including steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum, and cast iron; it is not recommended for use in pure oxygen or highly oxygenated systems, chlorine-containing systems, or with strong oxidizing materials, and may attack some thermoplastics. Typical service applications include hydraulic systems, pneumatic lines, coolant circuits, fuel systems, and general-purpose pipe fitting assemblies where disassembly and repair may be required.
