Loctite 638 (IDH 1835936) is a single-component, high-strength, anaerobic retaining compound formulated for slip and press fits that cures without a primer on most active metals including steel, copper, and brass. This 50 ml (1.69 fl oz) bottle contains a green-colored methacrylate ester resin that fills gaps up to 0.15 mm (0.006 in) and delivers a compressive shear strength of approximately 27.6 MPa (4,000 psi) on steel. Designed for securing cylindrical assemblies such as bearings, bushings, sleeves, and cylindrical parts into housings or onto shafts, it resists vibration, thermal cycling, and most shop fluids after full cure. Fixture time on steel is approximately 10 minutes at 22°C (72°F) with full cure reached in 24 hours; heat up to 149°C (300°F) accelerates cure for production environments.
