The M.K. Morse CTD36 is a new carbide-tipped hole cutter with a 2-1/4" (57mm) cutting diameter and 1" (25mm) cutting depth, designed for fast, accurate through-holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, channel iron, cast iron, electrical boxes, and fiberglass-reinforced plastic up to 1" thick. The body features ultra-hard brazed carbide teeth with a chip-clearance slot geometry engineered for overlapping and interrupted cutting, and the tool ships complete with a spring-loaded pilot pin, flat-type chip-clearing spring, and a hex key for arbor set screw tightening. Drive is via a 3/8" (10mm) hex shank compatible with corded or cordless drills, table drill presses, and turret drilling machines operating at 150–300 RPM for steel and 60–120 RPM for stainless steel per Morse's published speed chart. Cutting fluid is recommended by the manufacturer for maximum tool life and is required when cutting stainless steel.
