This is a new Mason Industries / Mercer Rubber FFL-series straight braided metal hose assembly, manufactured by Mason Industries Inc. (Hauppauge, NY) in partnership with Mercer Rubber Co. The FFL designation indicates a flexible corrugated inner hose with stainless steel wire braid over-wrap, terminated at both ends with fixed (non-floating) carbon steel flanges painted black — as shown clearly in the product photos. This assembly is designed to absorb vibration, accommodate thermal expansion and misalignment, and provide flexible piping connections in HVAC, pump, compressor, and mechanical equipment installations where flange-to-flange connections are required. The stainless steel braid construction provides external protection and pressure reinforcement for the corrugated inner hose core, and both flanges have a bolt-hole pattern consistent with standard ANSI pipe flanges. Per Mason Industries installation instructions (Form A-32998/2, June 2018), the wooden spacer strips between flanges must be removed after installation, and the hose must never be twisted, compressed, or over-bent during alignment.
