The Metal Groove-Checker model 30-958-3,25 is a new, USA-made groove checking rod designed for use with Starrett 440 Series Groove Depth Gages. The rod spans a measurement range of 0 to 6-1/8 inches and features a straight .286-inch thread (STRT .286 THD) for secure attachment to compatible depth gage heads. Construction is hardened steel with a black oxide finish on the central locking collar and a precision ground rod body with a spherical contact tip for accurate groove depth measurement. The knurled locking collar, visible in the photos, allows the rod to be set and secured at the desired depth position during measurement. This instrument is suited for measuring groove depth, slot depth, and recessed features where a standard depth micrometer rod cannot reach.
