The Micro 100 ARM-281-2S is a new, solid "super carbide" 2-flute square-end end mill from the ARM (Aluminum Roughing Mill) series, manufactured in the USA. The part number decodes as follows: ARM = Aluminum Roughing Mill series; 281 = 9/32 in (0.2813 in) cutting diameter; 2 = 2 flutes; S = ZrN (Zirconium Nitride) coating, which appears as the gold finish visible in the primary photo. ZrN coating provides an extremely low coefficient of friction and excellent lubricity, making it purpose-built for high-speed machining of aluminum and non-ferrous alloys where chip welding and built-up edge are primary concerns.
