The Micro 100 BBL-4904000 is a new, solid carbide boring bar from the BBL (Boring Bar, Left-hand) series, manufactured in the USA as indicated by the orange tube packaging and label. Decoding the part number: BBL = Boring Bar, Left-hand cutting; 490 = 0.490 in shank diameter; 4000 = 4.000 in overall length; the minimum bore diameter is determined by the bar geometry and is nominally 49/64 in. The bar is fabricated from Micro 100 Super Carbide — a proprietary micrograin tungsten carbide substrate — and features a black oxide or PVD-style surface treatment visible in the product images, providing corrosion resistance and reduced chip adhesion.
