The Micro 100 BLR-187-2X is a new, solid carbide 2-flute ball nose end mill with a 3/16 in (0.1875 in) cutting diameter, manufactured in the USA from Micro 100's proprietary "super carbide" submicron-grain tungsten carbide substrate. The tool features a black AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating — visible in the photos as the uniform dark finish — which provides oxidation resistance up to ~1,400°F and extends tool life in hardened steels, stainless steels, titanium, and high-temperature alloys compared to uncoated or TiN-coated tools. The BLR series designates a long-reach ball end mill with a reduced-neck geometry: the "187" encodes the 0.187 in (3/16 in) ball diameter, and "2X" indicates a 2× diameter reach, allowing access to deep pockets, contoured surfaces, and 3D profiling operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight shank is compatible with standard ER collet chucks and shrink-fit holders accepting a 3/16 in shank.
