The Micro 100 EMS-093-2X is a new solid carbide square end mill with an AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating, featuring 2 flutes and a 3/32 in (0.0938 in) cutting diameter. It carries a 3/8 in length of cut (LOC), a 1-1/2 in overall length (OAL), and a 3/16 in shank diameter — all decoded directly from the EMS-093-2X part number, where "EMS" denotes the Extra Long Shank series optimized for deep-reach profiling and contouring, "093" encodes the 3/32 in cutting diameter, and "2X" designates the 2-flute configuration. The AlTiN coating provides elevated hardness (≈3300 HV), oxidation resistance up to approximately 1470°F, and reduced built-up edge, making this tool well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting of hardened steels, stainless steel, titanium, and high-temperature alloys. The extended shank-to-cutting-diameter ratio enables access to deep pockets and slots where standard-length end mills cannot reach, and the square (flat-bottom) end geometry produces sharp 90° corners for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations on CNC machining centers using ER or collet-style toolholders sized for 3/16 in shank.
