The Micro 100 EMS-218-3X is a new, solid "Super Carbide" square end mill manufactured in the USA, featuring a 2-flute geometry with a 3X long length of cut (LOC) configuration designed for deep slotting and profiling applications in steels, stainless steels, and hardened materials. Decoded from the part number: "EMS" = Extra Long, Multiple Flute, Square end; "218" = 2 flutes, 1/8 in (0.125 in) cutting diameter; "3X" = 3× diameter length of cut (approximately 0.375 in LOC). The tool features Micro 100's proprietary AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) dark coating — visually confirmed by the uniform black/dark gray finish seen in the photos — which provides high hardness, oxidation resistance up to ~1600°F, and reduced tool wear in dry or minimum-quantity-lubrication (MQL) machining. The straight cylindrical shank is 1/8 in diameter and accepts standard ER11, ER16, or equivalent collet chucks. With a right-hand cut, right-hand helix, and Micro 100's "Super Carbide" submicron grain substrate, this end mill delivers tight tolerances and excellent surface finish in hardened materials up to ~65 HRC.
