The Micro 100 GEM-171-2 is a new, USA-made solid carbide square end mill from Micro 100's "Super Carbide" GEM series, featuring 2 flutes, an 11/64 in (0.1719 in) cutting diameter, 5/8 in length of cut, and 2 in overall length. The tool is ground from Micro 100's proprietary submicron-grain "Super Carbide" substrate and carries a dark DLC/TiB2-style hard coating visible in the photos — consistent with Micro 100's standard AlTiN or TiB2 coating applied to GEM-series general-purpose end mills — delivering elevated hardness and heat resistance for extended tool life. The straight (non-reduced) shank seats directly in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, or drill chucks sized for the 11/64 in body diameter. This tool is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steels, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials at high surface speeds.
