The Micro 100 MMRM-040-9 is a new, miniature 2-flute square end mill from the MMRM (Miniature Milling — Regular Length — Metric/Miniature) series, ground from Micro 100's "Super Carbide" solid submicron carbide and finished with a dark AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) physical vapor deposition coating visible in the photos. The cutter diameter is 0.040 in (approx. 1.02 mm) with a 9/64 in (0.1406 in) shank diameter — a reduced-shank configuration that allows the small cutting head to seat in standard collets — and the tool features a right-hand cut, right-hand helix geometry suited for slotting, profiling, and pocketing in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Made in the USA, the MMRM series is designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles with ER or precision collet toolholding; the AlTiN coating provides elevated hardness (~3300 HV) and heat resistance up to approximately 1600 °F, extending tool life in steel, stainless steel, and titanium applications.
