The Micro 100 RME-040-2X is a new, solid carbide square-end end mill ground to tight tolerances and designed for high-precision micro-milling applications. The tool features a 0.040 in (1.016 mm) cutting diameter, 2-flute geometry, 0.120 in length of cut, and a 1-1/2 in overall length with a full-cylinder shank that tapers to the neck — providing rigidity in deep-reach applications while minimizing deflection. Applied with an AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) PVD coating, the tool delivers elevated hardness (approximately 3,000 HV), superior oxidation resistance up to ~1,600°F, and extended tool life versus uncoated or TiN-coated alternatives, making it well suited for dry or semi-dry cutting of steels, stainless steels, titanium, and hardened materials up to ~55 HRc. The "2X" suffix in Micro 100's RME series designation denotes the extended-reach neck geometry visible in the photos — the shank reduces ahead of the cutting zone, enabling access to deep pockets and recessed features on CNC machining centers, micro-mills, and precision milling fixtures using standard round-shank collet holders.
