The Micro 100 SDH-250-03X is a new, solid submicron-grain carbide square end mill from Micro 100's "Super Drill/End Mill" (SDH) series, manufactured in the USA. Decoding the part number: SDH = Square end mill, Double-flute High-helix series; 250 = 0.250 in (1/4 in) cutting diameter; 03 = 3 flutes; X = extended length variant. The tool features a dark AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) PVD coating, visible in the photos as the characteristic near-black finish, which provides superior hardness and oxidation resistance up to approximately 1,470°F, making it well-suited for dry or semi-dry machining of steels, stainless steels, and cast irons. The 1/4 in shank fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit chucks. As an SDH-series tool, it is designed for high-feed, high-efficiency milling with a high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in ferrous materials.
