The Micro 100 SME-027-2X is a new, solid submicron carbide square end mill with a 0.027 in (0.686 mm) cutting diameter and 2 flutes, manufactured in the USA under Micro 100's "Super Carbide" designation indicating a fine-grain carbide substrate for superior wear resistance and edge integrity at micro-scale diameters. The SME series features a tapered neck profile that reduces deflection while providing clearance in deep-pocket applications — visible clearly in the product photo as the long taper running from shank to cutting end. With a 1/8 in (0.125 in) shank diameter, this tool is compatible with standard ER11, ER16, and ER20 collet chucks, as well as precision micro toolholders accepting 1/8 in shanks. Intended applications include micro-milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites where tight tolerances and fine feature resolution are required — such as medical device components, electronics housings, mold details, and miniature mechanical parts.
