The Micro 100 TMM-045075X is a new, solid carbide single-form thread mill designed to cut 4-40 UNC internal threads in a single helical interpolation pass on a CNC machining center. The "X" suffix in the part number designates an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which is visible as the dark black finish on the tool body and cutting end; this coating provides increased hardness and heat resistance for improved tool life in steels, stainless, and aluminum. Decoded from the part number, "TMM" = Thread Mill Metric/Mini (Micro 100's multi-form mini thread mill series), "045" = 0.045 in cutting diameter, and "075" = 0.075 in shank diameter; the larger shank relative to the cutting head creates the stepped-down neck geometry clearly visible in the photos, maximizing rigidity while allowing reach into blind holes.
