The Millstar HFM4-08-HSN is a new, solid carbide 4-flute high-feed end mill in the HFM (High-Feed Mill) series, sized 8mm cutting diameter × 8mm shank diameter × 4mm cutting length × 76mm overall length, as confirmed directly on the package label ("8X8X4X76MM"). The tool features Millstar's HSN (High-Speed Nanocomposite) PVD coating — a nano-structured TiSiN/TiAlN multilayer coating engineered for elevated hardness, heat resistance, and extended tool life in high-speed, high-feed machining strategies. The geometry employs a low lead angle (high-feed / trochoidal milling geometry) with four flutes, enabling aggressive feed rates at shallow depths of cut (ap), minimizing radial cutting forces and reducing deflection — making it well-suited for machining hardened steels, stainless steels, and difficult-to-cut alloys. It accepts a standard 8mm collet or milling chuck (ER11/ER16/ER20 compatible) and is designed for use in CNC machining centers running high-feed milling strategies.
