The Milwaukee 4274-21 is a new, corded 1-5/8 in. (41.27 mm) permanent magnet drill press kit designed for heavy-duty structural steel drilling in fabrication, ironwork, and construction applications. The tool features a 13-amp motor with a 2-speed gearbox delivering 475 RPM (low) and 730 RPM (high), optimized for annular cutters up to 1-5/8 in. and twist drill bits up to 1/2 in. (13 mm), with 5-3/4 in. of drill travel on a 3/4 in. Weldon quick-change arbor. The permanent magnet base operates without electricity, providing up to 2,000 lbs. of holding force on 1/4 in. steel minimum thickness, and the integrated Auto-Stop lift-off detection automatically cuts power to the motor if the base loses contact with the workpiece. The compact footprint measures 6 in. wide (narrow base design), the tool-free motor head adjustment accommodates standard-length annular cutters without an arbor spacer, and the reversible feed handle can be repositioned left or right. The kit ships in a molded carrying case and includes a cutting fluid bottle, arbor pilot pin, and chip hook; Milwaukee backs it with a 5-year warranty.
