Mitsubishi DS4LBD1/4 1/4in 4-Flute TiAlN Carbide Ball End Mill

The Mitsubishi Materials DS4LBD1/4 is a new, solid carbide 4-flute ball nose end mill from the Diamond Star series, manufactured in the USA with a 1/4 in (6.35 mm) cutting diameter and a 1/4 in straight shank. The "DS" designation indicates Diamond Star series, "4L" denotes 4-flute long-reach geometry, "B" specifies ball nose end geometry, and "D1/4" encodes the 1/4 in diameter; the dark black coating visible in all photos is Mitsubishi's TiAlN-based hard coating, which provides oxidation resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials up to approximately 65 HRC. This end mill is suited for 3D contouring, profiling, and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened workpiece materials in CNC machining centers; it accepts standard 1/4 in ER collets, Weldon, or hydraulic toolholders. The 4-flute configuration delivers superior surface finish and increased feed rates compared to 2-flute designs, and the long flute length enables deeper reach into pockets and cavities.
