The Mitsubishi Materials Diamond Star DS5MHD1/4SS is a 1/4 in diameter, 5-flute solid carbide roughing end mill manufactured in the USA and sold new in the original plastic clamshell case. The "MHD" designation indicates a medium-helix, high-density tooth-form (wave-style chipbreaker serrations along the flute length) engineered for aggressive material removal in steels, stainless steels, and other ferrous alloys while reducing cutting forces and vibration. The tool is finished with a dark TiAlN-based PVD coating — clearly visible in the photos as the uniform blue-black surface on both the flute zone and shank — which provides elevated hot hardness, oxidation resistance, and extended tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions.
