The Mitsubishi Materials MVS0780X15S080 is a new, solid carbide, 2-flute coolant-through twist drill from the WSTAR Drill/MIRACLE series (DIAEDGE line), coated in the DP1020 PVD grade — a TiAlN-based MIRACLE coating engineered for extended tool life in steel, cast iron, and stainless steel. Decoded from the part number: MVS = WSTAR coolant-through series, 0780 = 7.80 mm cutting diameter, X15 = 15×D drilling depth (117 mm flute depth), S080 = 8.0 mm straight shank diameter; the reduced shank allows the 7.80 mm drill to be held in a standard 8 mm collet or chuck. The DP1020 MIRACLE PVD coating provides high hardness and heat resistance, enabling dry or minimal-quantity lubrication (MQL) cutting as well as conventional flood coolant through the internal coolant channels; typical applications include deep-hole drilling in carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, and cast irons on CNC machining centers using ER collet chucks or hydraulic toolholders with 8 mm bore. Made in Japan.
