The Mitsubishi Materials SNMG120408-SA (SNMG432SA) is a new, square-shaped negative-rake carbide turning insert in grade UE6110, a CVD-coated cemented carbide designed primarily for steel (ISO P) turning applications. The ISO designation decodes as follows: S = square shape (90°), N = 0° clearance angle (negative rake), M = M-tolerance class, G = cylindrical hole with chip grooves both sides, 12 = 12.7 mm inscribed circle, 04 = 4.76 mm thickness, 08 = 0.8 mm nose radius, SA = medium-duty chipbreaker geometry. UE6110 is a CVD multi-layer TiCN/Al₂O₃ coated grade offering excellent wear resistance and heat resistance for continuous to light interrupted cuts on carbon, alloy, and stainless steels; the package label confirms steel as the primary workpiece material (ISO P circled) with recommended cutting speeds of 210–355 m/min (690–1165 SFM) and feed rates of 0.14–0.40 mm/rev (0.006–0.016 IPR). These inserts are compatible with SCLCR/SCLCL, MSDNN, MSKNR/L, and other SNMG-style negative toolholders requiring a 12.7 mm IC square insert; each factory-sealed box contains 9 inserts.
