The Mitsubishi Materials SVJCR-163 is a new, right-hand external OD turning toolholder made in the USA, designed for 35° V-shaped (diamond) VCMT/VCGT inserts clamped via a top-clamp (C-style) screw-lock system. Decoding the designation: S = square shank, V = 35° V-shape insert, J = 93° lead angle (side cutting edge angle), C = top-clamp insert holding method, R = right-hand cutting direction, 16 = 1-inch (1 in × 1 in) shank cross-section, 3 = 6-inch overall length. The 93° lead angle geometry provides a 3° back clearance approach, minimizing radial cutting forces and making this holder suitable for longitudinal turning and light facing operations on lathes accepting 1 in square-shank tooling. The holder body is precision-ground steel with a hardened clamp seat and ships with an Allen wrench for insert indexing; it is compatible with VCMT 160404, 160408, and 160412 series inserts.
