The Mitutoyo 293-350-30 Digimatic Outside Micrometer (model MDC-5"MX) is a new, production-grade electronic outside micrometer covering the 4–5 inch (100–125 mm) measurement range with 0.00005 in / 0.001 mm resolution and a guaranteed accuracy of ±0.0001 in. The frame features Mitutoyo's ABS (Absolute) electrostatic capacitance linear encoder, which retains the origin upon power-up and eliminates the need to return to zero, and the unit is rated IP65 for protection against coolant splash and swarf ingress — confirmed by the MSC shipping label notation "IP65 Coolant Proof Mic." Standard equipment includes a 4-inch setting standard (gauge block / reference standard), carbide-tipped spindle and anvil, ratchet stop thimble for consistent measuring force, friction thimble, and a hard-shell plastic storage case; the unit also supports SPC data output via Mitutoyo's Digimatic interface for integration with the MeasurLink or U-WAVE data collection systems.
