The Mitutoyo 500-164-30 is a new, Japan-made Absolute AOS (Advanced Onsite Sensor) Digimatic digital caliper with a measuring range of 0–8 in / 0–200 mm and a resolution of 0.0005 in / 0.01 mm, verified on the included Mitutoyo Certificate of Inspection traceable to NIST/AIST via JCSS. The AOS electromagnetic induction linear encoder retains absolute position on power-up — no need to return to zero after battery change or power loss — and the large LCD displays readings in inch or millimeter with instant in/mm conversion via front-panel button. Construction is carbon fiber composite slider on a hardened stainless steel beam, with a thumb roller for smooth controlled jaw movement and a locking screw for measurement hold; the caliper provides outside, inside, depth, and step measurement capability. Accuracy is ±0.02 mm / ±0.001 in per the factory inspection certificate visible in the photos, battery is SR44 (3V), and the unit ships in the standard Mitutoyo molded plastic case with instruction sheet and FEROBRITE VCI corrosion inhibitor paper.
