The Mitutoyo 500-181-30 (CD-15APX) is a new 6-inch / 150mm Absolute AOS Digimatic digital caliper, manufactured in Japan, featuring Mitutoyo's Absolute electromagnetic induction linear encoder that retains position data at power-off — eliminating the need to return to zero on startup. Resolution is 0.0005 in / 0.01 mm with an accuracy of ±0.001 in / ±0.02 mm, displayed on a large LCD with in/mm conversion via front-panel button and an ORIGIN key for referencing. The stainless steel beam carries both inch and metric scales, the sliding jaw is driven by a knurled thumb roller, and the unit ships in Mitutoyo's standard black plastic storage case with SR44 battery, instruction sheet, and inspection certificate as visible in the packaging photos. The AOS (Advanced Onsite Sensor) system provides robust performance in environments with coolant mist or cutting fluid contamination, making this caliper suitable for shop-floor dimensional inspection of outside diameters, inside diameters, depths, and step measurements. SPC data output is supported via Mitutoyo's standard Digimatic port for connection to the U-WAVE or IT-016U data collection systems.
