The Mitutoyo 500-197-30 is a new, genuine Mitutoyo Absolute AOS (Advanced Onsite Sensor) Digimatic digital caliper with a measurement range of 0–8 inches / 0–200 mm, manufactured in Japan as confirmed by the case label. The caliper features Mitutoyo's Absolute electromagnetic induction linear encoder, which eliminates the need to reset zero at power-on and retains the reference position even when the tool is powered off — the display will always show the correct position relative to the jaw-closed datum. Resolution is 0.0005 in / 0.01 mm with accuracy of ±0.001 in / ±0.02 mm; the tool reads in both inch and metric and includes ON/OFF, ZERO/ABS, and ORIGIN buttons on the face, a thumb-roller for smooth jaw travel, and a data output port (SPC) for connection to Mitutoyo's Digimatic data collection systems. The stainless steel beam and jaw construction provides corrosion resistance for typical shop environments; the unit is supplied complete with the Mitutoyo black plastic carrying case, corrosion-inhibitor VCI paper, battery, and multilingual instruction sheet (document No. 99MAD025) as visible in the packaging photos.
