The Mitutoyo 505-742J is a new, Japanese-manufactured stainless steel dial caliper with a 0–6 inch measuring range and 0.001 inch graduation, featuring a white dial face for high-contrast readability. The rack-and-pinion dial mechanism uses a shock-proof movement and the dial bezel is rotatable for easy zeroing at any position within the range. Inspection is performed to ISO 13385-1 and ASME B89 standards, with NIST/PTB-traceable calibration certified at 20°C reference temperature; the included Certificate of Inspection (serial no. 25503272) confirms the unit passed all accuracy checks with a maximum permissible error of ±0.001 inch across the full range. The hardened stainless steel beam and jaws provide outside diameter, inside diameter, depth, and step measurements, making this caliper suitable for precision layout, incoming inspection, and shop-floor dimensional verification across machining, metrology, and quality control applications. Supplied with a fitted hard plastic case and multilingual instruction sheet (manual no. 99MAC003M7).
